Committee Chairs and Volunteers

The annual three day Area 70 Convention provides an extraordinary opportunity for service. We would love to have you join the Convention team. Volunteers are vital to the success of each convention.

The following is a list of committee chairs and their responsibilities:

Convention Chair

Responsibilities include: Overseeing all aspects of the Convention including the appointment of knowledgeable and dedicated Chairs to prepare and implement Convention plans. The Convention Chair serves a two year term. This position is typically filled by the immediate past delegate.

Greeter Chair

Responsibilities include: Building and supervising a team of energetic, friendly, informed volunteers who welcome and assist attendees with any needs throughout the Convention.

Hospitality Chair

Responsibilities include: Building and supervising a team of volunteers to secure food donations from Area 70 groups for the hospitality suit. The Hospitality Chair and volunteers organize and maintain the Hospitality Room during the Convention so as to ensure an enjoyable experience for the attendees.

Program Chair

Responsibilities include: Works with Convention Chair to review and create program topics and titles. Enlists experienced A.A. members to chair/facilitate the meetings, workshops and events including the dance and the ice cream social. Heads the team of volunteers present before and during the Convention to ensure an enjoyable and fulfilling event for all attendees

Registrar

Responsibilities include: Oversees all aspects of registration prior to and during the Convention. Heads the team of volunteers recording and organizing all preregistrations, keeping track of meals purchased, creating badges and creating information packets for each attendees. At the convention, ensures badges, meal vouchers and information packets are distributed to pre-registered and walk-in attendees in an accurate and efficient manner.

Treasurer

Responsibilities include: Recording all income and expenses associated with the Convention, banking (including opening and maintaining the Convention bank account), paying invoices, preparing interim financial reports for the quarterly audits by the Area 70 Finance Committee and preparing the annual Convention financial report presented to the June Full Area Assembly.

Al-Anon Liaison

Responsibilities include: Working with Al-Anon to present a series Al-Anon meetings during the Convention.
