Delegate

Vermont consists of one Area, Area 70, and thus is represented at the Conference by one delegate. It is the delegate’s responsibility to serve the U.S./Canada Conference as a whole. As voting members of the Conference, delegates bring to its deliberations the experiences and viewpoints of their own areas. Yet they are not representatives of their areas in the usual political sense; after hearing all points of view and becoming fully informed during Conference discussion, they vote in the best interests of A.A. as a whole.

The Delegate attends all Area Committee Meetings, Full Area Assemblies, and various regional meetings and forums. They collect feedback from AAs in the Area to share at the Conference through meeting with districts and at the Pre-Conference Sharing Session held in the early spring.

2024-05-01: Message from the Area 70 Delegate, Jim T

Greetings.  I have returned from the weeklong General Service Conference exhausted and overwhelmed.  I saw about 15 minutes of outside time on the sidewalk in front of the hotel during the entire week.  A great deal of work is squeezed into six and a half days, some days beginning as early as 6:30 AM and ending as late as midnight.

I am anxious to share my full experience with you at the June 8th Full Area Assembly in St. Johnsbury.  In the meantime, I have asked our website chair to offer this document which reveals all the advisory actions which came out of the 74th General Service Conference.

Click here to read the Advisory Actions from the 2024 General Service Conference.

Please, if you have any questions about what you see or don’t see in this document feel free to email me at the address above.

I also will be setting up a few online delegate sessions, and visiting districts – so stay tuned.

Yours in Service,
Jim Thompson
